My name is Sharon Osman, and I’ve had the joy and honour of marrying over a thousand couples across Melbourne. With over 15 years of experience and multiple industry awards, I specialise in creating personalised, meaningful wedding ceremonies that reflect your story, your culture, and your values.
Whether you’re after a simple registry-style wedding, a romantic elopement, or a full traditional ceremony, I offer weddings of all sizes in and around Blackburn. I also travel across Melbourne and beyond to deliver heartfelt ceremonies with a warm and calming presence. I’m available seven days a week, provided all legal requirements are met, and I’m here to make the process stress-free and joyful from start to finish.
To get married in Australia, there are some important legal requirements to be aware of. The Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form must be received by your celebrant no less than one month and no more than 18 months before your wedding day. This notice can be lodged in person or emailed as a scanned copy. Please note, it is an offence to backdate or postdate this document.
If only one party is available to lodge the form—perhaps the other is overseas—that’s okay. The second person must sign it before the wedding, and I’m legally required to witness that signature. In rare, exceptional situations, couples may apply for a shortening of the required one-month waiting period, and I’m happy to support and guide you through that process if needed.
When lodging the NOIM, proof of date and place of birth is required—either an original birth certificate or a valid passport. If the document is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a certified English translation. If either party has been previously married, official documentation showing how the previous marriage ended will also be required.
As your Blackburn Marriage Celebrant, I’m also required to be satisfied with your age, identity, and genuine intent to marry. This means I will ask for photo ID, such as a passport or driver’s licence. On your wedding day, you’ll need two witnesses over the age of 18 to sign the certificates with you. These can be family members, friends, or anyone of your choice.
Your ceremony will be fully customised to suit you. Whether you want something traditional, modern, spiritual, or cultural, I will create a ceremony that’s as unique as your love. You can choose from a selection of vows or write your own, with my guidance and support. No matter your background, belief, or guest size—whether 4 guests, or 300—you will receive the same professionalism and care.
I hold a Certificate IV in Celebrancy from the Academy of Celebrancy and previously worked in Quality Assurance for 29 years. I’m also a qualified Professional Life Coach, which helps me support couples emotionally as well as practically. Many couples say my calm, friendly nature makes them feel instantly at ease.
