I’m also happy to run through things with you at my home before the wedding date as an alternative to a rehearsal.

The legal steps involved in getting married in Australia can be a bit overwhelming, but don’t worry – I will guide you through the process and make it as easy and stress-free as possible. Here’s a brief overview of the steps:

Step 1: Contact me to schedule an initial meeting to discuss the type of ceremony you want. There is no cost for this meeting, and you’ll get a chance to meet me and decide if you want to move forward. I’ll ask some basic questions and go through some options, and I’ll leave you with a list of what you’ll need for our next meeting.

Step 2: At our second meeting, we’ll complete the first set of forms, which is the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’. This must be done at least one month prior to the ceremony, and I’ll confirm that all your documents are in order. I’ll also provide some ideas on the ceremony format and content, and a deposit will be required at this meeting.

Step 3: After discussing your needs, I’ll work up a draft ceremony with all the points you want included. We’ll work together to finalize the ceremony to your satisfaction.

Step 4: I’ll document the agreed-upon ceremony and provide you with a copy to check and peruse at your leisure. You can advise me of any changes only after you have read it thoroughly. During this time, you can contact me by phone or email anytime.

Step 5: Depending on the ceremony, we may wish to have a phone rehearsal, which is quite common these days. Any modifications can be addressed at this point.

Step 6: On the day of the ceremony, I will arrive at the time and place we’ve arranged, and I’ll be around 30 minutes early to ensure that all preparations are complete. I’ll need a nominated person from you to check with at the venue, and I’ll check again with that person after the ceremony before I leave.

Step 7: In the next couple of days, I’ll complete and forward all legal documentation to the appropriate authorities.
